Brian Lara Cricket Academy, multi-purpose stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago
The Brian Lara Cricket Academy is a cricket stadium in Tarouba near San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, with a seating capacity of approximately 18,000 spectators. The grounds feature six pitches on the main field, twelve outdoor training areas with grass and artificial turf surfaces, locker rooms, a gym, and press facilities.
The stadium opened in 2017 after planning began in 2004 to prepare Trinidad and Tobago for the 2007 Cricket World Cup. Construction faced significant delays and cost increases, but upon completion it became an important venue for national and international cricket matches, hosting major tournaments including the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The venue honors Brian Lara, one of Trinidad and Tobago's most celebrated cricket players, whose career has inspired young athletes across the region. Today, the stadium serves as a gathering place where fans experience the energy of the game and celebrate their connection to cricket.
Two parking areas with approximately 1,500 spaces each on the north and south sides provide convenient access for visitors on match days. The stadium features twenty food vendors, four souvenir stands, and various spectator areas including VIP lounges and private suites to meet different needs.
The venue features biometric technology for measuring player performance, making it a modern training center. It was originally part of a broader plan that included an aquatic center and velodrome, though these facilities were built elsewhere.
