Daan District stretches across southern Taipei with dense residential areas, commercial zones, educational institutions, and multiple parks covering 11.36 square kilometers.
The district evolved from Daiwan village near present-day Xinyi Road and Fuxing South Road intersection, receiving its current name meaning great peace in the 1800s.
Three national universities, including National Taiwan University and National Taiwan Normal University, establish Daan as the educational center of Taipei.
Fourteen metro stations connect the district to central Taipei, while Zhongxiao East Road provides access to numerous department stores and commercial buildings.
