Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone Museum, Saxophone museum in Houli District, Taiwan
The Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone Museum houses over 400 saxophones spanning different periods, from early models to contemporary instruments displayed across multiple exhibition areas. The collection shows how the instrument evolved from its origins to modern versions.
The museum was founded in 2004 and honors Chang Lien-cheng, who began manufacturing saxophones in the 1940s. At that time, Houli District was a major global production center for the instruments.
Professional musicians perform regularly in the museum's theater, demonstrating how the saxophone sounds across different genres and playing approaches that connect with visitors.
Visitors can join guided tours and try out selected saxophones themselves, which helps understand how the instruments work. Regular workshops are offered for both beginners and experienced musicians.
The collection includes a 170-year-old saxophone handcrafted by Adolphe Sax, the instrument's inventor. This rare piece is displayed alongside modern saxophones made in the working factory next door.
