Neishechuan Bridge, Railway bridge in Sanyi Township, Taiwan
Neishechuan Bridge is a railway structure crossing the Neishechuan waterway between Tunnel No. 6 and Tunnel No. 7 along the former Mountain Line. The iron construction stands near Liyutan Reservoir with historical tunnels containing projected images displaying scenes from the old railway era.
The bridge was constructed around 1903 as part of Taiwan Railways Administration's Mountain Line and served for over 90 years as a transportation link for local communities. The line was closed in 1998 and now forms part of the region's railway heritage.
The surrounding area maintains Hakka traditions through indigo dyeing, tea cultivation, and woodcarving crafts that shape daily life in the community. Visitors can observe these active trades in workshops near the bridge.
Access to the bridge is restricted due to safety concerns and monitored with penalties for unauthorized entry. Visitors can best explore the site from outside by visiting the accessible tunnels and the surrounding area.
The inactive tunnels near the bridge feature projected historical scenes from the railway's operating days displayed on tunnel walls. This multimedia presentation brings the defunct line back to life and offers a rare way to experience the line's history firsthand.
