Immigrants from Tong-An County in Fujian built a small shrine at the site in 1742. The compound grew during the 18th and 19th centuries through community donations.

The nearest metro stops at Yuanshan and Daqiaotou are both about a 10 to 15 minute walk away. The grounds are open during daylight hours and the courtyards are accessible to wheelchairs.
The stone carvings on the columns and walls were made by craftsmen from Quanzhou and Hui'an. Every spring a three-day festival honors Baosheng Dadi with processions and offerings.
