Dalongdong FuShou Temple, Buddhist temple in Datong District, Taipei, Taiwan.
Dalongdong FuShou Temple is a Buddhist sanctuary in Taipei featuring intricate stone carvings, dragon pillars, stone lions, and numerous wood, stone, and clay artistic elements decorating its structure. The buildings are arranged in descending height order following classical design principles that guide the overall spatial composition.
The sanctuary began as a modest wooden structure in 1742, built by immigrants from Tong'an in Xiamen, Fujian Province. It underwent major reconstruction during the early 19th century, which established its present form and appearance.
The temple serves as the focal point for the Baosheng Cultural Festival celebrated on the fourteenth day of the third lunar month, bringing the community together through processions, fire-walking rituals, lion dances, and classical opera performances.
The temple is readily accessible by metro and served by multiple bus routes, making it easy to reach from the city center. Comfortable shoes are recommended as exploring the complex requires walking between buildings and navigating the site's topography.
The site is deliberately oriented toward the south, an alignment considered highly favorable in traditional Feng-Shui practices applied during its design. This positioning choice influenced both the original layout and later refinements of the entire sanctuary.
