Jing Fu Temple, Tudigong temple in Zhongshan District, Taiwan
Jing Fu Temple is a three-story Tudigong temple in Zhongshan District, Taiwan, decorated with dragon carvings on its ceilings and walls in the style of southern Chinese architecture from the Qing period. Each floor holds its own altar, and the building combines wooden beams, painted decorations, and traditional ornamentation throughout.
The temple started as a small neighborhood shrine and grew considerably after the community took over space from an adjacent hotel. That shift turned what had been a modest gathering point into a three-floor structure.
Jing Fu Temple brings together Taoist, Buddhist, and local folk traditions in a way that feels natural rather than arranged. The altars on each floor carry different offerings, and the incense smoke, the sound of prayers, and the mix of symbols all reflect how local people practice faith as part of daily life.
The temple sits in Zhongshan District and is easy to reach on foot from Yuanshan Park nearby. The area has good public transport connections, so getting there from other parts of the city is straightforward.
The dragon carvings on the ceiling are positioned so that they appear to move as you walk through the corridors. Many visitors only notice this effect when they stop and look directly above them.
