Zhongshan District

Zhongshan is an administrative district in northern Taipei that mixes residential neighborhoods, parks, and modern shopping centers throughout its area. The district connects historical temples and memorial sites with contemporary urban life across its relatively compact expanse.

The area was divided into several villages during the Qing Dynasty, then reorganized under Japanese rule, and later named in honor of Sun Yat-sen. This transformation shaped how the region evolved from a rural area into a modern urban center.

The district is home to several important temples, including Xingtian Temple, where visitors can watch locals praying and making offerings. These religious spaces show how faith shapes the daily rhythm of Taipei residents.

The area is served by multiple metro stations and bus routes, making it easy to move between neighborhoods. Markets and shopping centers offer everything needed for daily life, with most locations accessible on foot.

Visitors can explore the Lin An Tai Historical House, a preserved estate from the late Qing era that offers insights into domestic life of earlier times. The area also houses specialized museums for miniatures and jade art, showcasing lesser-explored forms of artistic expression.
