Zhong shan Bridge, Bridge in Taipei, Taiwan
The Zhong Shan Bridge spans 120 meters across the Keelung River, connecting the southern bank at Yuanshan to the northern bank at Jiantan Mountain point.
The first bridge on this site, called Meiji Bridge, was constructed in 1901 during the Japanese colonial period using iron truss engineering by architect Kagatarou Togawa.
The bridge represents a vital connection in Taipei's urban fabric, linking the Presidential Office Building to the Shilin Official Residence through North Zhongshan Road.
The current structure, completed in 2007, measures 23 meters in width and accommodates multiple traffic lanes for vehicles traveling between central Taipei and northern districts.
The second generation of the bridge, built in 1933, featured granite railings and bronze lamp posts, elements that defined its appearance for several decades.
