Zhong shan Bridge

Zhong Shan Bridge crosses the Keelung River, connecting the southern bank at Yuanshan to the northern area near Jiantan Mountain. The structure carries multiple traffic lanes and serves as a main route for vehicles traveling between central Taipei and districts to the north.

The original bridge at this location, called Meiji Bridge, was built in 1901 during Japan's rule using iron truss design. A second version was constructed in 1933 with granite railings and bronze lamp posts before the structure underwent later renovations.

The bridge represents a vital connection in Taipei's urban fabric, linking the Presidential Office Building to the Shilin Official Residence through North Zhongshan Road.

Crossing is straightforward for both pedestrians and drivers, with clear markings and access points at both ends. The middle section offers the best view of the surrounding city and river.

The second generation of the bridge, built in 1933, featured granite railings and bronze lamp posts, elements that defined its appearance for several decades.
