Yuanshang Park

Yuanshang Park is a large public green space with walking paths, traditional pavilions, playgrounds, and sports facilities accompanied year-round by various flowers and plantings. The grounds also provide visitor centers, exercise stations, and regular farmers markets for the public.

The park was founded in 1897 as Taiwan's first public park on the site of a former Imperial Japanese Army cemetery. This transformation from a memorial space to a recreational area marks a significant shift in how the location has served the community.

During the 2021 health crisis, the park's Expo Dome transformed into one of Taiwan's largest vaccination centers, handling up to 20,000 people daily. This shows how flexible and vital this public space can become for the city.
