Linbian, Township in western Pingtung County, Taiwan
Linbian is a township located at the mouth of the Linbian River, opening toward the Taiwan Strait with agricultural fields and coastal terrain throughout its landscape. The area comprises ten separate villages interwoven across its geography.
The region carried different names throughout its past: Pangsoya during Dutch rule, then Pang-soh, followed by Nâ-á-piⁿ under Chinese settlers. It received its current name after 1945.
The township comprises ten villages, each with distinct local customs and seasonal celebrations featuring seafood-based regional cooking. Visitors can experience how these communities maintain their heritage through food and festive gatherings throughout the year.
The township is well-served by Linbian Station on the Pingtung Railway Line, which provides regular train connections linking the area to larger centers. This transportation hub makes it easy to reach the region and explore its different villages.
The local climate allows year-round cultivation of wax apples, a fruit that thrives during the cooler months. This agricultural specialization has made the region a major producer of this crop.
