Hunei District

Hunei is an administrative district in Kaohsiung comprising multiple villages spread across the area. The landscape is shaped by several waterways and canals that define the terrain and serve local communities.

After Taiwan's transition from Japanese control in 1945, the area gradually developed from rural settlements into a modern urban division. Official recognition as a district of Kaohsiung came in 2010.

The Yuemeichi Ciji Temple serves as a gathering place where residents participate in traditional ceremonies throughout the year. This temple shapes the spiritual life of the community and brings people together regularly.

The district is well served by regular bus connections linking the various neighborhoods together. Visitors should be aware that accessibility can vary depending on the season, particularly near the waterways during heavy rainfall periods.

The Shigeo Fukuda Design Museum is located here, displaying contemporary art collections in an unexpected location. This art institution was deliberately placed in the district to bring cultural enrichment to the local area.
