Chiayi Confucian Temple

The Chiayi Confucian Temple is a shrine dedicated to honoring Confucius and his teachings, located within Chiayi Park in the East District. The compound includes multiple halls and courtyards designed for worship and reflection, blending traditional layout principles with concrete construction methods.

The site originated in 1706 as an educational institution before becoming a place of Confucian worship and remembrance. Major earthquakes damaged the early structures, prompting several reconstruction efforts over the centuries.
