Chiayi Botanical Garden

The Chiayi Botanical Garden spreads across a large area within Chiayi Park, displaying roughly 140 different tree species. Winding paths and water features guide visitors through the various sections of this living plant collection.

The garden was founded in 1908 when Taiwan was under Japanese rule, serving as a research site for tropical tree species development and testing. This early establishment made it an important location for experimenting with plants from different climate zones.

The garden serves as a place where people can learn about native trees and plants of Taiwan in their natural settings. Visitors and school groups come here regularly to discover and understand the diversity of local greenery.

The garden is easy to reach and has multiple entrances for visitors arriving by different routes. The best time to visit is during warmer months when the trees are in full leaf and the paths are pleasant to walk.
