Ketagalan Culture Center, Indigenous cultural center in Beitou District, Taiwan
The Ketagalan Culture Center is a ten-story building in Beitou with exhibition areas, art galleries, conference rooms, and educational spaces for indigenous cultural programs. The spaces are designed to accommodate different types of cultural activities and events.
This institution opened in November 2002 as the first dedicated facility in Taiwan for preserving indigenous peoples' heritage. It has since become a central place for documenting and presenting these communities' histories and cultures.
The center displays how Taiwan's fourteen indigenous peoples live through everyday objects, crafts, and ritual items arranged in exhibition rooms for visitors to explore. These displays show how communities maintain and pass down their traditions.
The center is within walking distance from Xinbeitou Station and opens from 9 to 17 on Tuesday through Sunday. Guided tours in multiple languages help visitors understand the exhibitions better.
The building houses an extensive library about indigenous cultures with research materials and historical documents rarely found elsewhere. This collection offers visitors deeper insights into the development and history of these peoples.
