Xikou Township

Xikou Township is a rural area in Chiayi County situated on flat agricultural land where the Huasing and Sandie Rivers meet. The landscape consists of cultivated fields and multiple small villages spread across the terrain.

Han Chinese settlers arrived roughly 200 years ago and established the foundation of the settlement that exists today. Population growth continued steadily until reaching a peak in the early 1980s.

Agriculture forms the backbone of village life, with farming families maintaining traditions passed down through generations across the flat fields. The work of cultivation shapes daily routines and connects people to the seasonal cycles of growing and harvest.

The area is straightforward to explore since the terrain is flat and the small villages are relatively close together. Visitors should prepare for extended time outdoors, and visiting during the growing season offers the best chance to see active farming.

The name originates from the convergence of two rivers, expressed in Chinese characters as 'two river mouth'. This geographical feature was crucial for early settlers when choosing where to establish the community.
