Wusanto Reservoir, Artificial reservoir in Tainan, Taiwan
The Wusanto Reservoir sits in the Tainan area and is held by stone embankments along which narrow paths run. The water surface stretches between forested hills and several bays form quiet corners along the shore.
Construction of the reservoir began in the 1930s as part of a larger plan to control flooding in the region. The work took several years and the water gradually filled the basin until the present shape formed.
This reservoir takes its name from the old settlement that once stood in this area before the waters rose. Today anglers from nearby towns gather here and share their knowledge about the fish that live in these calm waters.
Buses from Tainan city center run to stops near the lake from where you continue on foot. Along the shore there are shaded spots and benches where you can sit and enjoy the view.
Boats with solar panels travel on the water without needing fuel engines. These quiet vessels take visitors across the lake and show distant shores that are not easy to see from land.
