Miaokou Night Market, Food market in Keelung, Taiwan
Miaokou Night Market is a street food destination along Rensan Road featuring more than 70 permanent stalls. The stalls operate after 5 PM and serve traditional dishes alongside local specialties.
The market formed near Dianji Temple, built in 1873, where fishermen and merchants originally gathered to sell fresh catch to local residents. Over time, it expanded into the diverse food destination seen today.
The name Miaokou refers to its original location near the harbor area. Vendors operate under standardized regulations and numbering systems, showing how organized street food vending is structured in Taiwan.
Visitors can take the Taiwan Railway to Keelung Station and walk about 100 meters (330 feet) down Zhongyi Road before turning right toward the market entrance. The location is easy to find as it sits between nearby buildings with clear signage.
The market is known for a distinctive tempura preparation method that blends Japanese culinary influences with local ingredients. The cooking technique passed down at several stalls creates a flavor profile found nowhere else in the region.
