Keelung Cultural Center, Cultural center in Zhongzheng District, Taiwan
Keelung Cultural Center is an 11-story building in the Zhongzheng District of Keelung, Taiwan, housing a museum, a performance hall, a library, and administrative offices. The facilities are spread across multiple floors, so visitors can move between different types of cultural spaces within a single building.
The building opened in 1985 and was designed from the start to be a central place for cultural life in Keelung. It received its current name in 2004, reflecting its broader role in the city.
The center is one of the few places in the city where local artists regularly show work alongside guests from other parts of Taiwan. Visitors can walk in on any given day and find an exhibition, a stage performance, or a public program in progress.
The building sits close to Keelung Station, which is within a short walk through the neighborhood. Buses also stop near the entrance, making it easy to reach from most parts of the city.
The center has hosted the Golden Horse Awards, one of the most watched film awards in Chinese-language cinema. This connection to film has given the building a profile that extends well beyond its home city.
