Guandu Bridge, Steel arch bridge in Taipei, Taiwan
The red-painted steel structure features three continuous arches spanning 539 meters across the Tamsui River, connecting Bali and Guandu districts.
The bridge opened on October 31, 1983, becoming Asia's first fully welded steel arch bridge and marking a new era in Taiwan's infrastructure development.
The steel arches of Guandu Bridge stand as a symbol of engineering progress for local residents, representing the connection between urban and rural communities.
Both sides of the bridge include dedicated lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, measuring 2.25 meters wide, allowing visitors to cross the Tamsui River.
The bridge's three decreasing arches create a parabolic silhouette against the backdrop of Guanyin Mountain and the Tamsui River estuary.
