Mount Guanyin, Volcanic summit in Wugu District, Taiwan
Mount Guanyin is a volcanic summit in New Taipei City, rising above the surrounding landscape between two districts. Multiple hiking trails crisscross the mountain, connecting different sections and leading to vantage points for views of the region.
Human settlements around this peak stretch back thousands of years, with evidence from the Neolithic period found in the area. The mountain has remained a significant place throughout the centuries.
The mountain takes its name from a ridge formation that resembles the goddess Guanyin reclining. This distinctive shape inspired the building of a temple on its slopes, which visitors can still encounter today.
The climb can be done via different routes, with some paths featuring steep sections and stone steps. Wear sturdy footwear and allow time to explore the various trails at your own pace.
This peak serves as a crucial stop for birds of prey migrating through the region, with several species passing through regularly. Birdwatchers can encounter these raptors during their visit to the trails.
