大崗山溫泉, Natural cold spring in Tianliao District, Taiwan
Dagang Mountain Spring is a natural cold water source at the northern foot of Dagang Mountain in Tianliao, flowing year-round with constant output. The water is alkaline, mineral-rich, and lightly carbonated, with temperatures ranging from 18°C (64°F) in summer to 21°C (70°F) in winter.
The spring was discovered by local residents during the Japanese colonial period, who began heating its waters and building the first bathing facilities in the area. These early efforts transformed the site into a recreational destination.
The spring's name references Dagang Mountain, whose northern slopes frame this natural water source that draws people to experience its cool, flowing waters. Visitors notice the bubbling spring set within the landscape, creating a place where nature's processes feel immediate and present.
Visitors can reach the spring via Highway 184 from the Luzhu Interchange of National Highway 1, or by regular bus service to Dagangshan station. The site is readily accessible, and both routes offer straightforward ways to get there.
Unlike Taiwan's typical hot springs, this source stays cool and maintains its mineral-rich, lightly carbonated quality throughout the year. This difference makes it a rare type of bathing experience in the region.
