Neimen Zizhu Temple, Chinese temple in Neimen District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
Neimen Zizhu Temple is a Chinese temple featuring elaborate stone carvings, curved traditional roofs, and detailed wall paintings throughout its halls. These murals depict Buddhist and Taoist religious stories that guide visitors through the different sections of the structure.
The Guo family founded this sanctuary in 1696, which later received formal recognition through a dedication plaque in 1769. The name derives from a poetic inscription associated with this formal naming period.
The temple remains an active prayer site where visitors can observe worshippers performing daily rituals honoring Guanyin and other deities through incense offerings. The presence of believers at any time makes the space feel spiritually alive rather than purely historical.
The temple sits in the center of Neimen District with regular opening hours and parking available for those arriving by car or tour bus. Access is straightforward for both individual visitors and larger groups.
Inside the temple stands a memorial shrine honoring 51 local militia members who died protecting their community. The site holds special commemorative ceremonies each year on December 2nd to remember their sacrifice.
