Meinong Cultural and Creative Center, Cultural center in Meinong District, Taiwan.
The Meinong Cultural and Creative Center occupies multiple buildings, with a Baroque-style main structure featuring circular windows and stucco work. The complex also includes decorated clay elements on the roof and various exhibition and activity rooms.
The building was constructed in 1902 as a police station during Japanese colonial rule. In 2015, it was transformed into a cultural center while preserving its colonial-era architecture.
The education hall holds books and videos about Liudui and Hakka traditions of southern Taiwan. Visitors can discover the crafts and daily practices that shape these communities.
The center has different opening hours, extended on weekends from 9:00 to 18:00 and shorter on weekdays from 12:00 to 17:00. Plan your visit on weekends if you want to spend more time exploring the exhibits and activity spaces.
The former Japanese police dormitory within the complex features elevated foundations and large sliding doors that reflect colonial-era design. Today this space serves as a children's activity area with play opportunities.
