Teldreka Bridge, Bridge in Maolin District, Taiwan
The Teldreka Bridge is a road bridge that crosses the Zhuokou River near Maolin. The structure spans more than 800 meters and rises roughly 50 meters above the water, with two lanes for traffic.
Construction of the bridge began in 2010 after a typhoon destroyed the previous road connection in 2009. The project was part of rebuilding the region's infrastructure following this natural disaster.
The name Teldreka comes from the Rukai language, belonging to the indigenous people who have lived in this area for generations. The bridge represents their presence and culture in the Maolin region.
From the bridge, you have wide views of the surrounding landscape and the river below. The best time for photographs is early morning when visibility is at its clearest.
The bridge's support posts sink deep into the ground to rest on solid bedrock. This deep foundation system makes it a notable example of modern engineering in this mountainous region.
