Adjacent pavilion

Adjacent pavilion, Historic administrative pavilion in Zhongzheng District, Taiwan

The Taiwan Provincial Administration Hall is a historic government building from the Qing Dynasty featuring traditional Chinese architectural elements, wooden beams, and decorative roof structures. It sits within the grounds of the Taipei Botanical Garden and preserves the construction methods of its era.

The building was constructed in 1901 as the central administrative office for Taiwan Province under Qing rule. It remains the last surviving government building from that period, offering direct evidence of the administrative structures of the time.

The structure displays architectural principles of balance and order that run through Chinese building traditions. Visitors can observe how the spaces and facades follow these same patterns today.

The building is accessible from the garden grounds, though access routes may have certain limitations in some areas. Plan time to explore the surrounding botanical garden when visiting the site.

The building once served as a guest house for imperial envoys, giving it a special role in Taiwan's administrative history. This dual function remains visible in the details of its design today.
