Cueifong Lake, Alpine lake in Nan-ao, Taiwan.
Cueifong Lake sits at an elevation of 1850 meters and covers 20 hectares in a mountain setting. It holds the distinction of being the largest lake at this high elevation in Taiwan.
The area shows remains from its logging past, including metal ropes and structures. These were once used to move timber down the mountain.
The name reflects Mandarin words related to the green mountain waters. Visitors can see today how this naming captures the actual color of the lake.
A loop trail circles the lake and takes about three hours to walk. Two trailheads with parking are available to access the route.
In 2022, the trail earned the first-ever global certification as a quiet trail. This recognition promotes keeping silence while exploring the area.
