Mingchih Resort

Mingchih Resort is a forest recreation area sprawling across elevations between 1150 and 1700 meters, with multiple trails threading through cypress and pine forests. A central lake serves as a gathering point, with dedicated zones for camping, picnicking, and day-use activities throughout the grounds.

The forest area was established under the Veterans Affairs Commission and has served Taiwan's natural conservation since its founding. The management approach continues to shape how the land functions and how people experience it today.

The Atayal people maintain a deep connection to this mountain region, viewing the forests as ancestral lands that remain central to their identity. Walking through the old-growth trees, visitors can sense this long-standing relationship with the place.

The trails are clearly marked and fan out from the central area to various viewing spots, with activities available year-round. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and be prepared for changing weather conditions at higher elevations.

The lake contains many standing dead cypress trees that jut out from the water, forming an unusual natural display. These remnants create a distinctive character that draws attention and shapes how people experience the shoreline.
