Xiaowulai Skywalk, Observation deck in Fuxing District, Taiwan.
Xiaowulai Skywalk is an observation platform with glass flooring that extends out over steep cliffs in the mountainous region of Taoyuan. The structure projects views downward into forested valleys and rocky terrain that spreads beneath the transparent surface.
The skywalk was developed in the 2000s as part of efforts to expand tourism in Taiwan's mountain regions. The project reflected growing interest in nature-based attractions and elevated viewing platforms across the island.
Local indigenous communities maintain their traditions in the Fuxing area while the skywalk brings visitors to learn about mountain ecology.
The site is reached most easily by train to Taoyuan Station, followed by a bus journey to the location. Arriving early in the day helps avoid crowds and provides better light for looking down through the glass flooring.
The glass floor allows visitors to look straight down into the forest canopy, creating a sensation of floating above the treetops. This design choice has become a focus for researchers studying how people react to apparent height and depth.
