Nanhu Mountain

Nanhu Mountain is a summit in Taiwan's Central Mountain Range located within Taroko National Park, rising to 3,742 meters above sea level. The peak ranks among the five tallest mountains in the country and sits within a landscape shaped by steep valleys and rocky ridges.

Before starting the four-day trek spanning roughly 40 kilometers, visitors must obtain permits from both the park and local police authorities. The climb demands solid fitness and sturdy footwear suited to steep, rocky paths.

The peak is home to the Nanhu Salamander, a rare amphibian species that scientists first found in this specific location. This creature lives nowhere else and draws the attention of researchers studying endemic wildlife.
