Taoshan Waterfall, Mountain waterfall in Heping District, Taiwan
The Taoshan Waterfall cascades down 80 meters through the rocky cliffs of the Wuling National Forest Recreation Area at an altitude of 2200 meters.
The waterfall received its alternate name, Yansheng Waterfall, due to two ancient characters inscribed on the nearby mountain wall that remain visible today.
Local residents consider this natural formation a symbol of the region's connection with water, incorporating it into traditional nature appreciation practices.
The 4.3-kilometer Taoshan Trail leads visitors to multiple viewing platforms, with the journey typically requiring several hours of hiking each way.
During the rainy season, the increased water volume creates such powerful surges that the sound of falling water echoes throughout the surrounding valleys.
