Pintianshan, Mountain summit in Shei-Pa National Park, Taiwan
Pintianshan is a summit in Shei-Pa National Park in Taiwan, rising to around 3,500 meters. It sits along a rocky ridge with steep rock walls that make the ascent technically demanding throughout.
The peak's name comes from rock formations at the top that resemble the Chinese characters 品 and 田. Japanese mountaineers who explored the area gave the surrounding ridge the name Holy Ridge, which has remained in use ever since.
Pintianshan is part of the Holy Ridge, a mountain route that holds a special place in Taiwan's climbing culture. Completing this ridge is considered a major achievement among local climbers, and the route draws experienced mountaineers from across the island.
Reaching the top requires technical climbing skills and proper gear, as sections of the route involve rock climbing on steep terrain. It is best attempted with experienced partners and after thorough preparation for mountain conditions.
From the top, you can see both the north and south faces of the neighboring peak Dabajianshan at the same time. This double view is something most climbers do not expect and rarely notice until they are already standing at the summit.
