Xueshan North Peak, Mountain peak in Heping District, Taiwan.

Xueshan North Peak stands at 3,703 meters as part of Taiwan's second highest mountain range within Shei-Pa National Park. The mountain is accessed by a long trekking route with marked sections and shelter facilities along the way.

Japanese mountaineers completed the first recorded ascent of the North Peak in 1935. The mountain was incorporated into Tsugitaka-Taroko National Park by 1937.

The peak holds meaning in Atayal indigenous tradition, where the mountain is known as Sekuwan in their language. This connection to native heritage shapes how local people relate to the landscape.

Permits must be obtained between 35 days and 4 months before climbing, as access to the park is strictly controlled. Two mountain shelters provide lodging along the route, helping hikers manage the long distance in comfortable stages.

The 10.9 kilometer trail to the summit requires specialized snow climbing techniques during winter months, despite the subtropical latitude. This unexpected winter challenge makes reaching the peak a demanding experience even in tropical regions.
