Shalun Seaside Resort, Beach resort in Tamsui, Taiwan
Shalun Seaside Resort is a beach area in Tamsui where the Tamsui River meets the Pacific Ocean, with a sandy shoreline stretching along the coast. The location provides space for sunbathing and typical beach activities throughout the year.
The area was developed as a recreational facility during Japanese rule and later served as a training ground during the Martial Law period in Taiwan. This history shows how the place shifted from leisure use to military purposes across different eras.
The beach connects to an equestrian center where visitors can watch horses move along the shoreline throughout the day. This combination creates an unusual gathering point where recreation and horsemanship meet on the coast.
Visitors can reach the beach by taking the Taipei MRT to Hongshulin Station and then transferring to the Danhai Light Rail Line. The area is accessible year-round, though visitors should know that swimming has been prohibited here for safety reasons.
The beach was closed to swimming in 1999 due to safety concerns, yet it remains a popular place for sunbathing and walking along the shore. Despite the ban, it attracts many people on weekends who value being near the water.
