Danjiang Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in New Taipei, Taiwan.
Danjiang Bridge is a cable-stayed crossing over the Tamsui River estuary in New Taipei, Taiwan. The single pylon rises to 200 meters (656 feet), while the total span of 920 meters (3018 feet) crosses the river mouth.
Construction started in 2014 after an international competition won by architect Zaha Hadid's office. Completion is scheduled for 2025, following years of work on the concrete structure.
The name refers to the Danshui region, where the river meets the Taiwan Strait. The slender profile of the structure fits into the coastal landscape without blocking views of the water.
The crossing shortens travel time between Tamsui and Bali districts considerably. The structure is not yet open to traffic and is expected to open in 2025.
The asymmetric arrangement with only one tower makes this construction the longest of its kind worldwide. The offset pylon carries cables that extend across the entire width of the river mouth.
