Taiwan Stock Museum, Financial education museum in Songshan District, Taiwan.
The Taiwan Stock Museum is a museum in the Songshan District of Taipei dedicated to the history of securities trading in Taiwan, presented through original documents, physical objects, and digital installations. The exhibition is organized into several sections that guide visitors from the earliest trading practices to the modern exchange.
The museum opened in December 2012 at the initiative of the Financial Supervisory Commission, which wanted a permanent place to document how Taiwan's capital market had grown. It was set up during a period when the country was broadening public access to financial markets and updating its regulatory framework.
The displays show how ordinary people in Taiwan have used savings and investments as part of everyday life, not just as tools for business. Old certificates, passbooks, and trading slips on display make this connection between money and daily life very tangible.
The museum is within easy walking distance of Zhongshan Junior High School Station on the Taipei Metro, making it straightforward to reach from the city center. Some interactive sections take more time to go through, so it is worth planning a longer visit than you might expect for a smaller museum.
The museum contains a reconstruction of an old open-outcry trading floor, showing how brokers once stood in a physical pit and used hand signals to place orders. This method was still in use in Taiwan into the late 1980s, just before electronic trading fully replaced it.
