Library of National Taipei University, Academic library in Sanxia District, Taiwan.
The Library of National Taipei University is an academic library in Sanxia District, Taiwan, spread across multiple floors linked by a floating bridge. The building holds open study areas, reading corners, galleries, a cafe, and a bookstore.
The library came out of an architecture competition held in 2008 and was designed by LIAO Architect & Associates. It was built as part of the university's campus expansion in Sanxia.
The library sits on the National Taipei University campus in Sanxia, a district outside central Taipei. Visitors can watch students use the open areas for group work while others read alone in the quieter corners.
The building has several entrances and it is worth walking through each floor to find the area that suits your needs. Digital resources and database access are available to all visitors.
The curved facade of the building was inspired by the movement of turning book pages. This shape channels natural daylight deep into the reading areas without causing glare.
