Xinpu Zhang Family Ancestral Temple, County-level ancestral hall in Hsinchu County, Taiwan

The Xinpu Zhang Family Ancestral Temple is an ancestral hall in Hsinchu County featuring five open chambers arranged in traditional architectural style. The interior spaces are designed specifically for worship and honor of family forebears.

The structure was first built in 1868 but was destroyed by the Japanese army in 1895 during their occupation. It was rebuilt in 1907 and has survived as a testament to the family's determination to preserve their heritage.

The temple remains a gathering space where Zhang family members observe ancestral rites and maintain historical family records that span generations. These ongoing practices show how traditional customs continue to shape the life of the community today.

The site is located in northern Hsinchu County and access to the interior may be restricted. It is advisable to contact local authorities or family members beforehand to arrange a visit.

A portrait of Zhang Yunlong, a major benefactor, still hangs in the left section of the hall. This painting preserves the memory of his role in the temple's survival and restoration.
