Azov National Nature Park

Azov National Nature Park is a protected area that combines coastal wetlands, steppes, and lakeside habitats along the Sea of Azov's shore. The landscape includes salt marshes, freshwater lagoons, and open grasslands that support diverse wildlife.

The park was created in 2010 to protect ancient archaeological remains scattered across the landscape. Within its boundaries lie burial mounds and stone markers left by Scythian peoples who lived in this region thousands of years ago.

The park serves as a living classroom where conservation work happens daily, with researchers tracking how wildlife responds to environmental changes. Visitors witness firsthand how people today try to protect the habitats and creatures that live here.

Visitors can walk on marked trails and use observation points to watch wildlife, or join guided tours led by park staff. Spring and autumn offer the best conditions for watching migrating birds and exploring the different habitats comfortably.

A small island within the park serves as a refuge for rare species that have vanished from the surrounding mainland. This isolated location has become crucial for protecting animals and plants that survive nowhere else in the region.
