Klov, Historical neighborhood in Pecherskyi District, Kyiv, Ukraine
Klov is a residential neighborhood in Kyiv's Pecherskyi District centered around a baroque palace that now houses the Supreme Court. The area spans along Klovsky Uzviz and Mechnikova Vulytsia with streets showing architecture from different periods.
A monastery from the 11th century occupied this site until 1240 when Batu Khan's forces destroyed it. The baroque palace that stands today replaced it centuries later in the 18th century, reshaping the entire location.
The palace defines the neighborhood with its baroque design that speaks to 18th-century elegance. Streets here still follow the layout of this once-prosperous district where important institutions established themselves.
Klovska Metro Station offers direct access to this area and connects it to other parts of the city. Visitors can explore the neighborhood on foot since main sites sit along the primary streets.
Three rivers flow underground through a 19th-century tunnel system beneath the neighborhood. These hidden brick passages with cobblestone floors form a concealed network running under the city.
