Golden Rose Synagogue, Orthodox synagogue in central Dnipro, Ukraine
The Golden Rose Synagogue is a synagogue in central Dnipro featuring classical and Art Nouveau architectural styles throughout its design. A prominent rotunda connects the entrance lobby to the main sanctuary, creating a flowing spatial sequence.
The building was founded in 1800 but was separated from its original community for decades, serving as a workers' club and warehouse between 1924 and 1996. Its return to the Jewish community marked the beginning of its restoration as an active house of prayer.
The name references golden roses created by Israeli artist Frank Meisler that greet visitors at the sanctuary entrance. The doors display representations of the Ten Commandments, shaping the visual character of the threshold.
The building is located on Sholom-Aleikhema Street 4 and operates as an active religious center with regular prayer services. Visitors should keep in mind this is a living place of gathering for the local community where respectful behavior is expected.
The adjacent Menorah center, opened in 2012, houses a museum called Tkumah and a library alongside various community facilities. These modern additions complement the historic synagogue and provide different programs for visitors and residents.
