Pivnichnyi Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Pivnichnyi Bridge is a cable-stayed structure crossing the Dnieper River in Kyiv, stretching roughly 816 meters in length. An A-shaped pylon reaching about 119 meters tall supports steel cables that carry the main span across the water.
The bridge opened on December 3, 1976, originally bearing a different name that was changed in 2018. This renaming was part of a nationwide effort to remove Soviet-era names from public structures.
The bridge construction involved architect Mikhail Krasnoshtein and engineer G.B. Fux, though Soviet politics led to A.V. Dobrovolsky receiving official credit for the design.
The bridge links several neighborhoods and roads, serving as a major traffic route through Kyiv. Pedestrians and drivers will find access points at different locations depending on their destination and direction of travel.
The bridge is part of a larger traffic network with multiple interchanges connecting different city thoroughfares. These connections allow traffic to move in multiple directions through various neighborhoods.
