Antonivka Road Bridge, Road bridge in Antonivka, Ukraine
The Antonivka Road Bridge is a concrete crossing over the Dnipro near Kherson, stretching roughly 1.4 kilometers (about 0.9 miles) and resting on more than thirty pillars. Narrow pedestrian paths run along both sides, allowing people to walk across while taking in the wide river views below.
After eight years of construction, the crossing opened in December 1985 to link Kherson with the eastern bank of the Dnipro. In the years following 2022, the structure suffered heavy damage from military actions, reflecting its strategic role in the regional conflict.
Daily life around the bridge has been shaped by recent events, and locals often speak of the connection between both banks as part of their shared memory. Families used to cross regularly to visit relatives or reach markets on the opposite shore, and this routine became part of the rhythm of community life.
The crossing sustained damage during the conflict, so travelers should check current access conditions before planning a visit. If walkable, the footpaths offer an open view of the wide river and the surrounding floodplains on both banks.
The crossing carries traffic over two waterways at once: the main channel of the Dnipro and its smaller tributary, the Konka. This double span means travelers actually pass above two separate flows during a single journey or walk.
