Center of Contemporary Art "Dakh", Contemporary art theatre in Holosiivskyi district, Kyiv, Ukraine
The Center of Contemporary Art Dakh is a multifunctional venue that hosts theater, music, and performance productions in a flexible space designed for various artistic formats. The space seats around 60 people, creating an intimate setting where performers and audiences share close proximity.
The venue was founded in 1994 under Vladislav Troitsky's direction as an experimental arts space that expanded to become a major independent cultural institution in Ukraine. Its early work in avant-garde performance helped shape contemporary artistic developments in the country.
The center is home to artistic collectives like DakhaBrakha and Dakh Daughters, who blend traditional Ukrainian elements with experimental performance styles. Visitors experience works that mix local traditions with contemporary international approaches.
The center is located near Lybidska metro station on Velyka Vasylkivska Street and is accessible by public transport. Arriving early gives you time to get oriented in the small space, which tends to fill quickly for most performances.
Since 2007, the center has organized GogolFest, one of the region's largest international theater festivals that draws artists and audiences from many countries. The festival was recognized among Europe's top cultural awards, making the venue a hub for cross-border artistic exchange.
