Zuivka Reservoir, Stausee in der Ukraine
Zuivka Reservoir is a large water body in Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine covering approximately 1.8 square kilometers and built on the Krynka River. The water is surrounded by open land, low hills, and scattered trees, with a sturdy dam structure that holds back the flow and creates a calm water surface.
The reservoir was constructed to improve water supply for local communities and farms and to manage water levels during dry seasons. Over time it has become an established part of local life and the regional environment.
The reservoir is an important gathering place for locals who fish, take walks, or spend time enjoying nature together. The community views this water body as a shared resource where families come to relax and participate in everyday outdoor activities.
Access to the reservoir is straightforward since the area is not heavily built up and offers open paths to the water. Visitors can explore on foot depending on the season, though caution is needed in winter as parts of the water can freeze over.
Near the reservoir lies a striking natural phenomenon called Burning Stones where methane gas rises from the ground and ignites spontaneously. The flames can reach over 6 feet (2 meters) high and create a rare burning glow that has been active for more than two decades.
