Luhanske

Luhanske is a small urban settlement located within the Svitlodarsk urban hromada administrative division in Donetsk Oblast. The settlement sits at a moderate elevation and functions as part of the broader governance structure serving its residents.

The settlement was established in 1701 as a residential area in what would become the Bakhmut administrative region. In 2020 it underwent administrative reorganization and joined the newly formed Svitlodarsk urban hromada.

The settlement carries different names across languages, reflecting the linguistic diversity of the region between Ukrainian, Russian, and Polish communities.

The settlement underwent significant administrative changes in 2020 when it transitioned from Bakhmut Raion to the newly formed Svitlodarsk urban hromada.
