Saint Nicholas Church in Kodaky, Eastern Orthodox church in Dnipro, Ukraine
Saint Nicholas Church in Kodaky is a stone building with a classical design and an octagonal dome rising above the roof. The structure follows a cross plan with a semicircular apse at the east end and extended side sections with columns supporting covered entryways.
The church was completed in stone in 1810, replacing a wooden chapel that had stood at this location since 1650. During a dark period between 1933 and 1943, the building was repurposed and used as an ammunition storage facility.
The church displays paintings from the early 1900s on its walls that tell stories from Orthodox tradition. Visitors can see the hand-forged metal crosses that were brought here during extensive restoration work.
The place of worship is located in the Dnipropetrovsk region and is protected as a national monument of Ukraine. To visit the interior and see the artworks, check with local information sources for current visiting hours.
The northern and southern facades are decorated with Doric colonnades that give the building a dignified appearance. The main entrance stands out through its distinctive design featuring two columns and square additions that frame the doorway.
