Zaporizhia Oblast Council

Zaporizhia Oblast Council is the regional legislative body for the southeastern Ukrainian region. It operates as a unicameral parliament with 84 seats that handle administrative and political decisions affecting the area.

The council was established on January 10, 1939, during the territorial reorganization of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. Its development reflects the administrative changes that have shaped the region since its founding.

The council chambers reflect the architectural style of Soviet administrative buildings while incorporating modern Ukrainian governmental design elements.

Members are elected for five-year terms to represent their constituencies in legislative matters. Political parties must receive more than 5 percent of votes to secure seats in the assembly.

The council maintains jurisdiction over 27,183 square kilometers of territory, including 150 kilometers of Sea of Azov coastline.
