Chernivtsi Art Museum

The Chernivtsi Art Museum is an art museum in the city's Central Square that houses approximately 12,000 works. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, and decorative objects from various periods, spanning from the 16th century to the present day.

The museum was founded in 1988 and relocated to its current building in 1991, a former bank structure built in 1900. The building was constructed in Art Nouveau style and continues to define the square's appearance today.

The museum displays religious and contemporary artworks from the Bukovyna region that reflect local traditions. Visitors can see the craftsmanship and artistic patterns that have been passed down through generations here.

The museum is centrally located and easily accessible on foot, especially for visitors already at Central Square. It is worth allocating enough time to explore the various exhibition areas at a comfortable pace.

The building's facade contains a ceramic panel with mythological representations that connect Rome and the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. This artistic detail is easily overlooked, but it tells a story about the city's past.
