Vasylkivski Karpaty Reserve, Nature reserve in Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine.
Vasylkivski Karpaty Reserve is a landscape reserve in Kyiv Oblast that covers rolling terrain with steep slopes and deep ravines carved by natural water flow. Small streams traverse the protected land and drain into the Buhaivka River at its southern boundary.
The reserve was established in 1999 to protect meadow-steppe vegetation that had developed naturally on the ravine slopes for centuries. This landscape had remained free from agricultural intervention and development throughout its history.
The reserve maintains the natural heritage of Kyiv Oblast through conservation of indigenous flora and fauna, including rare plants listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.
Access to the reserve is via an unpaved path from the T-1006 road, which is located opposite the Gvozdoff ski facility. The site has marked areas where visitors can walk and observe the natural surroundings.
The protected land supports populations of more than 30 bird species alongside deer, wild boars, and moose. Rare plants such as half-moon bunchgrass thrive here and demonstrate the biological diversity of the area.
